Unlock the Power of Temperature-Sensitive Paint: A Look at Our Black Thermochromic Pigment
Looking to create a paint finish that is dynamic and interactive? Our Black Thermochromic Pigment, also referred to as Heat Sensitive Paint is a perfect choice when you need to create unique projects that react to temperature changes. This pigment allows you to create unique designs that shift colors as the temperature changes, and can be used in all types of projects, from vehicles to clothing and so much more.
Understanding Thermochromic Paint
Our thermochromic pigments are designed to change color dramatically with a temperature change. Ours are designed to shift at 86 degrees Fahrenheit, making them a great choice for a variety of applications. These are some of the key features of our heat sensitive pigments:
- Dynamic Color Changes: These pigments change color as the temperature changes, offering a unique and eye catching look.
- Versatile Application: They are designed to be mixed into all kinds of mediums, clear coats and binders.
- Wide Range of Uses: Our customers have used our products on toys, choppers, home interiors, and even in research for making energy efficient roofing.
- Easy to Apply: Designed to spray well through airbrushes, powder guns, and HVLP paint guns.
Exploring the Applications of Thermochromic Pigments
While our customer focused on using our product on a helmet, our Black Thermochromic Pigment is designed to be versatile enough for use in many different projects. Here are a few ideas:
- Custom Automotive Painting: Transform cars and motorcycles with custom paint jobs that change with temperature fluctuations.
- Fashion Design: Add unique effects to clothing or accessories that react to heat and cold.
- Interior Decor: Use for furniture or walls to create unique, interactive spaces.
- Magician Props: Use to create custom props that will wow any audience.
- Safety Equipment: Give visibility to safety equipment with this unique and memorable paint.
Tips for Application and Use
When using our Black Thermochromic Pigment, it is important to follow some basic steps to get the best results. These include:
- Base Coat: Use a white or brighter base coat to get the best and most vibrant color changes.
- Mixing Instructions: Mix one 25 gram bag of pigment into a pint of reducer and let it sit for 24 hours.
- Clear Coats: Be sure to use a high quality clear coat with a UV protectant to protect against fading and damage.
- Multi Layering: Start with 5-7 coats of the thermochromic clear, and then add 3-4 coats of a UV clear top coat. You can also use a ghost pearl in the clear for added protection against UV.
Important Considerations
Please note that, as mentioned in our article about temperature change paint, this product requires a great deal of UV protection in order to create a lasting effect in outdoor environments. We recommend Wet Wet Plus clear or another highly UV protective clear for outdoor or exterior use. Because this paint is dependent on UV protection, we offer no warrantee on its longevity, since that depends on how you topcoat it.
Please note: this product is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PROLONGED OUTDOOR USE.
