Important Information on UV Protection

Our pigments, including this Green Thermochromic Paint Pigment, have a low tolerance to UV rays, and should always be used with the proper UV protective clear coats. Here are some tips to consider when using our products:

UV Protection: Make sure to use a UV protectant clear coat, such as Wet Wet Plus clear or Dupont’s hc7776, or a similar product to protect your finishes when used in outdoor applications.
Warranty: Because our products are susceptible to UV rays and other environmental factors, we do not offer a warranty on their longevity, as it is based on the clear coat you use and the environmental conditions they are exposed to.
Layering Techniques: You can also use our ghost Pearls or Chameleon Pearls® in your clear coat to help enhance UV protection for your projects.

How to Apply Our Thermochromic Pigments

Here is a simple step by step process for getting started with our thermochromic pigments:

Base Coat: Apply your desired base coat, using a white or brighter color for best results.
Mixing: Mix the 25 gram bag of pigment into a pint of reducer, and let sit for 24 hours.
Combine: Mix this reducer with a pint of clear to make a sprayable quart of material.
Application: Spray 5-7 coats of thermochromic paint over the base coat.
Top Coat: Apply 3-4 coats of UV top coat clear, and consider mixing in a ghost pearl for added protection against UV rays.

Always remember that if this product is used in high heat or UV environments it will likely start to fade and turn to a hazy gray, so a proper top coat and maintenance is required to keep your projects looking their best.
